What is an .htaccess file?
There are many things you can do with an htaccess file, including configure your web site to use custom error pages, ban visitors with specific IP addresses, password protect folders and stop indexing of folders without index pages.
Users without telnet access wishing to use htaccess to password protect a folder are asked to contact us first about setting up a specific username/pw for this purpose.
